The exchange program to the USA provides training and hosting opportunities in a variety of exchange related programs that are created to fit your career and educational goals.


Our service to you

TEP Pty Ltd has worked in conjunction with Communicating for Agriculture (CA) since 1995 offering an equine and agriculture exchange program to the USA. Our services include:

  • Initial advice and direction
  • Processing and planning
  • Assistance with visa process
  • Coordination of flights
  • Coordination of insurance
  • Back up service

Requirements:

Applicants for this exchange program should:

  • Be between the ages of 18-35.
  • Be able to obtain valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in the U.S.
  • Have good English skills.
  • Be criminal free record.
  • Be single and in good health.
  • Have the ability to pass a drug screening upon request.

J1 visa qualifying criteria

Trainee – this program offers the opportunity for your to gain valuable hands-on training while working in a your chosen field, whether it is equine, agriculture or horticulture, you will be working along side your host learning as you go. You will have the chance to experience working in a different environment, learning about the techniques and methods used in the USA, being around new cultures and living and working with new people often with many different trainees for many nationalities around you.

To qualify for this Trainee Program you must have either:

1 – a degree of professional certificate from a post-secondary academic institution outside of the United States AND at lease one year of prior related work experience in your occupational field outside the United States

OR

2 – five years of work experience outside of the United States in your occupational field

Intern – this program offers the opportunity to gain valuable training, experience different cultures, and strengthen your employment options on your return home.

To qualify for this Intern Program you must have either:

1 – be currently enrolled in and pursuing studies at a degree or certificate granting, post secondary academic institution outside of the United States

OR

2 – have graduated for such an institution no more than 12 months prior to your internship start date.

Agriculture: 
    Beef / Cattle ranch - Placement available from February to November 
    Bison - Placement available all year round 
    Custom harvesting - Placement available from April to November 
    Dairy - Placement available all year round 
    Field crops– Placement available from March/April to November/December 
    Sheep and dairy goats – Placement available all year round 
    Swine - Placement available all year round
Apiary: 
    Beekeeping – Placement available all year round
Equine: 
    Breeding - Placement available January to July 
    Carriage/Draught - Placement available all year round 
    Dressage - Placement available all year round 
    Eventing - Placement available all year round 
    Hunter Jumper / Show jumping - Placement available all year round 
    Riding school – Placement available all year round 
    Thoroughbred racing - Placement available all year round 
    Thoroughbred sales prep – Placement available April to November 
    Trotting horses – Placement available all year round 
    Veterinary - Placement available January to July / all year round 
    Western (cutting, reining/ western pleasure) - Placement available all year round 
    Guest ranch - Placement available April to October
Horticulture: 
    Landscaping - Placement available April to November 
    Potted plants - Placement available January to July 
    Tree nursery – Placement available all year round
Citrus: 
    Marketing, juice making and orchard maintenance – Placements available October to April and all year round

Our company has operated a recruitment agency for 20 years, commencing business in July 1990. However, since Equine Influenza and the Economic Downturn the recruitment section has declined, so the final decision has been made to shut the recruitment agency.

New salary requirement for 457
From July 1, 2010 the TSMIT (Temporary Sponsored Migration Income Threshold) has been increased from $45,220 to $47,480. The five percent increase is based on the annual seasonally adjusted wage change for all Australians.

Update on visa processing times
457 – Turnaround continues to be inconsistent, however complete sponsorship applications, particularly in Sydney and Parramatta, are being turned around in approximately 4 weeks.
